At Cromwell Learning Community, the Physical Education curriculum covers: Games, Gymnastics, Dance Athletics, Outdoor and Adventure activities and Swimming.
The school is a part of the King Edwards Schools Sport Partnership, who provides CPD opportunities for school staff through training courses and a range of specialist coaches who work alongside teachers in curriculum time to deliver PE. Pupils also have the opportunity to participate in a range of sports clubs after school for Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2.
The school also participates in after school sports competitions and attends sports festivals. During the summer each year group spend and evening participating in activities such as archery, wall climbing and team building which is followed by an overnight stay in a tent on the school field, if children want to, this gives them an experience of camping.
In order to ensure the best use of Sports Premium we are currently looking at ways to introduce the additional 30 minutes a day of physical activity. We have already ordered new sports equipment for EYFS and Years 1-6. Each summer we hold a Sports day for EYFS, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2, parents are also invited to compete against each other and school staff, it’s a fun day that the whole school looks forward to.
